The term Cucina Povera, inspired by the Arte Povera artistic movement, emerged in Italy during the 1970s. It refers to simple, economical recipes rooted in peasant traditions. Today, Cucina Povera influences contemporary cuisine with its emphasis on simplicity and sustainability. It turns the simple act of eating into an art form, making everyday ingredients incredibly delicious and appealing.
I want to share my love for this frugal and ingenious Italian cuisine, particularly the rich variety of vegetables found in Italy. I’ve always prepared simple, healthy, and flavorful Italian dishes inspired by Cucina Povera. This book was a natural endeavor for me. I hope you find as much joy in cooking these recipes as I did in creating, tasting, and writing them!
